These brilliant little blossoms are found on the Scarlet Globe Mallow, a wildflower that grows in dry, gravelly soil. Today they were being visited by a host of little green metallic bees, which had me scrambling from flower to flower trying to get that perfect shot. They are funny little bees, wrapping themselves around the stamens and crawling in a circle to collect the pollen. It's good to know there are some pollinators at work.
