My sister was home for a few days, so I traveled north several times. One of the first things you notice as you drop into the river valley where my parents live are the variety of butte formations that surround the town. Their house has an unobstructed view of the buttes that lie west of town, many of which have names, legends, and history from when the local fort was an outpost during the Indian Wars.
