As I drove into the yard today I saw a familiar shape sitting high on a limb in the windbreak. I hurried in to get my camera, and then snuck along the old grainaries until I could get a good look. Sure enough, it was a grouse, with three more further back in the windbreak. We've never had them this near the house, nor so high up in the trees. Maybe they are looking to expand their range. I'd like that!
