Jacqueline @jacqbb was my Get Pushed partner this past week and challenged me to do a still life in the style of Pieter Claesz. I do believe this was my most difficult Get Pushed yet as still life's are generally not my thang and I haven't a clue as to how to set them up successfully. I spent a long time trying to think of something that would mimic this artist in a creative way, but in the end just pulled out a few props that were at least a bit similar to what this guy used and dumped them together for this final result. Hopefully I came close to producing what was asked of me!
@jacqbb Hi Jaqueline, here is my attempt at your challenge. I definitely had to push myself on this one—thank you! ...May have to try another at some point ;-)
I’m not familiar with the artist either so I can’t say if this is in his style or not but I think it is a very well done and painterly looking still life.
I’m also interested to note that you were able to pull out what appears to be the skull of some kind of creature, at a moment’s notice.
@gardencat LOL, we had it on our patio amongst a bunch of other random bones and detritus from various nature hikes. We gather weird crap sometimes ;-)
You've done this very nicel - open books always sem to catch me out with depth of field. Nice to see somebody else that just has a skull lying about for photo purposes.
