A little history and economics lesson in cartoon form. Here we have 16th President Abraham Lincoln in his stove pipe hat talking to Thomas Jefferson, 3rd president and author of the Declaration of independence and founder of the University of Virginia. At the far right is Franklin Roosevelt, author of the New Deal and the only president to be elected to 4 terms, in a wheelchair as a result of having contracted polio.
The presidents are discussing a topic I have commented on before -- the debasement of our coins. Before 1942 the one cent piece or penny was 95% copper. Now it is 97% zinc with a thin copper coating. The nickel, or 5 cent piece, on the other hand, is now almost all copper instead of the original metal for which it was named. The dime or ten cent piece on which Roosevelt is engraved, has had its siver replaced with mostly copper.
It probably won't be long before these coins are totally phased out as fewer and fewer items can be purchased for less than a dollar.
LOL very creative, if you want to talk debasement of money you will have to go some way to match the devaluation of the £1, it was originally called the pound because it was equivalent in value to a lb of gold now a days it doesn't even buy you 2 chocolate bars :D
