This week I was pushed to do a low key shot for Get Pushed. I was also asked to do a sexy selfie for my husband. I thought that I would try to combine the two.
I love low key shots, typically, but have yet to master the skill. It is so tough to get the lighting right and be still long enough to get a clear, well lit photo. This was my best of the bunch today, though not great in that the tank top wrinkles make me look like I have back fat (I don't). I also had to crop out my friend "Focus Bear" who I used to focus on before I got in the shot. I went over, pushed him out of the way and posed...but he sneaked into the photo. Maybe I will upload his photobomb to my alternate album.
@maggiemae You are so right...sometimes when I am editing photos the sun comes in and skews my view of it. I made it more low key and took down that bright version:). Thank you for the great feedback!!
Oh I love it!! You look so great and I dare say sexy too.I am trying but don't have one yet that I am happy enough to post. Have no fear! I am not giving up. I was also trying to do a low key selfie, great minds think alike right?
@egad My dad actually did come across a sketchy photo that dad's shouldn't see of their daughters when I was showing him images on my camera. I about died! Thanks, friend!
@paul2782 I did darken it a bit to hide a little more. Thanks, Paul. I don't mind showing my face. I want to be a selfie expert come the end of the year.:)
@masosy Yes, maam. Low key selfies can be so nice. I need a better flashlight or lighting option, though, I think. Thanks for your great comments, lady!!
@maggiemae You are sweet. Again, thanks for the help:)!!
@bristolrose The other I put up as a joke. It was so funny that the bear made it in the shot. How dorky!;-). Thanks so much, lady!!
@psychographer Aw, thanks sweet lady. I've made selfies my goal to perfect this year. Some of the people on here are so good at them and I want to be, too.
@sailingmusic Do it. And post them up here. I want to see them, too:). I love both low and high key. What is the technique for producing high key...is it mostly in the editing?
@bardejov Good idea. My light that I was using was VERY bright and made my face look scary. I need to try a different light perhaps. Thanks for the great suggestion. They can be so awesome (low key shots) when the lighting is right.
@wendyhgill I tried to hide that mug in the dark;-). You are right. I need to better light my face next time. Thanks so much, Wendy!!
@emrob Thank you, Mandy. I used a flashlight and had a small lamp next to the camera, too. The flashlight was really too bright in my opinion. I prefer the old school kind that were more yellow to the new fangled lcd ones. I borrowed my son's bedside clamp lamp and may try it again with that.
Wow, what a great self shot, Amanda. I love it and I like that it is soft and in B&W. Nicely done. You are growing so much as a photographer and your camera is part of it. Makes me want a new one also.
@tryeveryday I did two more last night and posted this morning. One pushed the envelope of my comfort level. Yikes! No hearts in sight!;-)
@darsphotos It has been wonderful to have the new camera, my friend. It has made a huge difference in my photography...when I can figure out how to use it. I love having more that I can do with it and not being as limited as I was before. Thank you!
@tryeveryday Probably. You are hilarious!!
