Last year, I started the tradition of taking a birthday portrait of everyone in my family. Michael looked sad and pouty in his portrait a year ago: . http://365project.org/amandal/365/2012-07-21
I loved his natural smile here. Yeah he's getting up there. 42 is not an exciting age to turn, but he is still rockin' in his 40's.
@northy@m9f9l@fueast I figured out the reference finally. I guess I have a new book to read next:). Glad it had nothing to do with seeing up his shorts;-).
A much happier looking birthday bunny this year! Great idea to take a portrait of each family member on their birthday. Those photos will provide a lot of oohs and aahs in later years.
@adamj Way more than ok. He is a keeper. We've been together nearly 19 years!! Yikes. Thanks, Adam. I will pass it on to him. He appreciated your ab/core words. And I thought that FB messages would be a good way/better means of sharing your knowledge on the fitness subject. Meet up tonight. Wish you and your bro and the rest of the crew would be there. Just a few of us local ladies doing a skyline shoot. Happy Friday, friend.
P.S. Why don't you show us your wife? So private you are.
I find it interesting that you guys love to wear stars and stripes clothing so much. I've seen three patriotic T-shirts here in port Charlotte just this morning! Most Aussies wouldn't be caught dead wearing the Aussie flag on a T-shirt. We consider it a kind of cheesy, daggy thing to do! Just a different culture, I guess....
@tabbycat We love America. I think many buy the shirts for the 4th of July. Old Navy sells them for $5. They fit well and Mike keeps his clothes forever. That is funny, though. And yes, a gooooood year!
@amandal Ah yes! We DO drag the Aussie shirts and shorts and hats out for Australia Day, but they generally stay in the cupboard then until January 26th the following year. LOL!
@tabbycat It's you all who are the crazy ones. We don't wear hats and shorts, too;-). So funny. I'd love to see how you celebrate Australia day sometime.
Thanks all for the kind birthday wishes for Michael and the nice comments about his portrait. So glad he's less crabby this time around. It could be that I made his 40th birthday so amazing for him with a trip, surprise visit from his mom and a surprise party and 41 was so dull in comparison.
What a great shot of your husband, Amanda. He is such a nice looking guy. Love your tradition that you have started taking a photo a year of each of your family on their birthday. Makes sense as we do that through school years and have those but what happens after that. Will have to remember to do that. Happy Birthday to Michael.
@jsw0109 And Jeff, I said what I did about 42 because that is how Michael feels. 40 was a big deal and the years that follow are just not so exciting. He's a young seeming/looking 42, which is good, but it's getting up there. I'm 40 in 3 more years.
the 20's are not real... I call them the "Disney years" because even though you're technically in the real world, its not REAL... you can make mistakes and no one holds them against you cuz, hey, you're only in your 20's.... you're expected to mess up. Then the 30's feels real in every sense of the word... and the 30's seem like the real highlight because you're a full fledged adult and yet you're still "young". Then you hit the 40's and you realize the 30's was just a dress rehearsal. Who knows? Maybe when I hit the 50's I'll think the 30's was naivete and the 40's were the dress rehearsal LOL!!!!!
oh, and tell Michael he looks youthful, and if he feels youthful, then 42 is nothing but a number... it means nothing. I'm a 43 year old kid... so I know what I'm talking about ;)
@jsw0109 Funny observation. Last night I was running around our lake and noticed that the HS cross country team was out training. That was me 20 years ago. ACK! I am so not one of the kids anymore. I'm not even getting carded anymore. I was happy to turn 30...I was in a good place. Not so excited about 40. It's not as great for women to age unfortunately. At least hubby is older and I will always be a younger woman to him.
you are so far from old though Amanda!!!! FAAAAR! And I would be willing to bet money you'll still be far from old when you're 70. People like us die young, even if we live to 100.
@jsw0109 So grateful that we all have good/youthful genes. I did not like this so much when I was in my 20's and looked like a teen, but it is coming in handy now. I will pass on your kind words to Michael. Thanks, Jeff! I am young as long as I keep having fun and stay active.
@masosy Thanks, my friend!!:)
@fueast or at least the answer to it ;p
@amandal read hitch hikers guide to the galaxy ;p
