Our summer is melting away. Less than 2 weeks before the kids (all of them) are back to and starting school. My home will be very quiet soon.
Yesterday, I took the kids to the park and took my camera to kill the time while they played. While there, I focused on what is important.
Sometimes I get caught up in the trivial things. The pretty, the shiny, the things that catch my attention, the things that seem to matter, but really don't in the grand scheme of life. But I am missing out somewhat on what counts, what is important. Trying not to lose sight and getting my priorities realigned again.
These kids here, my two bigs, they are so important to me. More so than a pretty flower, or a butterfly or a fill in the blank...these kids here, they are the future.
Off to go back to school shoe and supply shopping. Gotta shod the future:). Happy weekend!
@summerfield Aw,thank you, my sweet friend. Sometimes, I am...and sometimes, I'm a real idiot.:). Shopping...eek. Not a fan. Nothing for me today, but it will be nice to get the kids their needed shoes. We've put it off all summer and their old ones are so shot! Happy weekend.
@cejaanderson Thank you so much, Jane!! Helps when you love the subject.
@eyeamlisa Summer has seemed to stretch on a bit for me, but maybe the saying is true...time flies when you are having fun. And your blood slows down when it is sooo cold. It's been a good summer. My other daughter looks even more like me...my mini me. Thanks, my friend!
How cute they are. I love those smiles. Seminole County schools start on Monday the 11th already. My grandson is in the 8th grade at Teague. Orange and Lake Co. starts a week later, the 18th.
You words are so true, don't sweat the small stuff was my motto as mine were growing up, as long as they werehealthy, happy and learning how to live their lives. A lovely portrait of your two :)
This is such an awesome shot, Amanda. So true that they are what is important in your life. Enjoy them as you know they grow up so very fast. Love your use of B&W in this photo. Enjoy shopping and being the wonderful Mom you are. FAV
Super sweet! FAv!
I just saw your note about not hearing from Annie. Did you want me to still start up the next six-word challenge, or did you go ahead with it? Sorry about that!
Your kids are adorable and I love your words. So true Amanda and I wish I knew that when my own kids were growing up. It seemed life was just one big blur with four kids and working part time. Today's parents are much more in touch with their kids I think.
I saw your question to Andrew about the 35mm lens. The longer the lens for portraiture the more flattering it is. 50mm is nice but even longer compresses the photo and is more flattering. At least that's what I learnt in a portraiture class. My 100mm macro is nice for portraiture but probably too long as an allrounder.
You kids are just too cute! Beautiful shot and your commentary is so true. I agree. I have really not been taking my camera out much lately because I sometimes feel I get too caught up in 'getting the shot' and not enough time just enjoying my boys.
So true and so beautiful! No matter what your kids do tat times, they are the most amazing people and capturing those fleeting moments is amazing. Fab shot, fab words.
