I've lived in London for 21 years but have still never been in to the Tower of London, nor Buckingham Palace or up Tower Bridge. .
Seen them hundreds of times but have never got around to being a tourist in the place live..!!! One day I suppose I'll get around to it..
Took this shot after work - Not inspired today so this is all I took. For those not familiar, the round glass building in the background is City Hall deigned by Norman Foster and is in Southwick, Sarf London. Or as Ken Livingston once called it - The Glass Testicle!!
nice shot andy... is that a siege engine?? A little while ago they were advertising that "be a tourist in your own city" thing. That said, I AM a tourist here (just long term tourist) but you should DEFINATELY check the tower of london out
Andy, I once lived near San Francisco, and I told myself that now I can go to the opera anytime. But I never did. People pay good money to go to London to see all the sights, so please do it for us that haven't made it yet!
I think it's a simple trebuchet.. there was also a few targets so guess there must be a medieval weaponry display/show... But you are right, I really need to get out and explore the "touristy" bits of London
I really love this shot! It's so... drab and rainy. Just like how I always picture London! Beautiful with the modern aspects sitting side by side with the ancient structures! It's just great.
Great !
Andy, I've lived in London for 3 months and I have been into the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge. It is always like this...
Hay-fever....I now use New Era brand. It is made in UK and homoeopathic. ( spell check hates that word! ). Two summers ago I used 3 containers and this summer gone didn't finish 2! Love the stuff. $15 here so about 7pounds I guess there ( no pounds symbol on pc ). The testicle is different to the gerkin isn't it?
Now that does look odd by the tower perhaps the guy who built it should be inside the tower .. LOL... This weekend Andy nip inside & let us know mate .. (o;
thanks guys and Ed... haha.
Darrell - thanks for hay fever info and yep, this def isn't the gerkin. Here's a link to a montage I did last year that has the gerkin in http://365project.org/andycoleborn/365/2009-11-29
Giggling away here as i catch up on some of your pictures...it's Ed's comment that's got me.........what is the difference between a gherkin and a testicle.........answers on a postcard! lol
around here we call them 'staycations'...like staying home on vacation and taking day trips or something like that...there's a lot of local stuff to take advantage of...sometimes...AND I love this photo...very interesting to look at...from the little circus tent to the ancient to the modern...great!
