Had a wander around a stately home this afternoon. Basically, it's your typical landed gentry gaff - long gravel drive, many, many bedrooms, landscaped gardens, private library, drawing rooms, ladies waiting room, dining rooms, roaring open fires and portraits of long gone folk looking down at you from almost every corner.
God knows how many staff a place like this needed to keep going in its heyday...!
All I know is my ancestors would have been using the tradesman's entrance... Definately more downstairs then upstairs...
I think someone near my flat has moved, abandoning their cat - poor thing meows and tries to befriend me everytime I leave for work or come home. Tonight I bought some cat food and fed him, poor guy must have been starving as he couldn't scoff the food fast enough...
He is yours now. May as well think of a name and buy the kitty litter. Loved looking around stately homes. My fathers family is from Cornwall, we used to make soap in the 12th century, hence the name and hence the poverty! Who bathed then to need soap?
@Swazzette Hi Sue... Thanks... I haven't seen him for about a week, so hope someone has taken him in or maybe just his owners were away for a week and had left him to fend for himself. Either way, hope he's ok what with the bad weather of late over here...

This is such a cool shot, btw. I love the focus and perspective.
