Metamorphosis
Flaneusing the streets of Melbourne reveals more urban art gems. In this section of a much larger work on a building in St Kilda, I like the way the painting incorporates the infrastructure such as pipes and grates.
I have been exploring the difference between graffiti and street art (urban art, public art, murals). I don't like graffiti and I particularly dislike tagging. I think there are some key differences between graffiti and street art. Street art is more usually images done with permission and is often commissioned to enhance particular spaces or streetscapes. There is sometimes a fine line between street art and graffiti, but graffiti is often more about lettering and can be invasive and damaging of other people's property as well as visually intrusive. Graffiti is often associated with urban grunge. Sometimes people graffiti over street art blurring the lines even further. @ninaganci@borof@terryliv
