Still sorting photos from the last couple of weeks travel. This magnificent staircase is in the 350 George Street building in Sydney. Built in 1895, this was the first Australian headquarters of an American firm, the Equitable Life Assurance Company. It was the first building in Sydney built with an internal load bearing steel frame (prefabricated in the USA and shipped to Australia for assembly) and one of the first with external walls entirely of trachyte.
