It is very cool to think in b&w when looking for images to photograph.
While enjoying a cider in a country pub it was the story and the contrasts that drew me to this image - I am sure the other patrons were wondering why my camera was pointed in this direction.
Simplicity at its best ! amazing how your eyes are drawn to the condiments and cutlery in spite of the prominence of the wooden panel and the upright support . Without colours our eyes are drawn to familiar shapes - love it !
I like this a lot Annie... but I think it would have even more impact if you cropped away on the left to put the post on the left hand thirds division and cropped the top shelf away to restore the size ratio.
@vignouse thank you Richard - I have just tried the thirds but can't seem to achieve it without losing the left hand cutlery - and I like the cutlery - I think that is why I didn't crop initially - I do see what you mean though :)
I thought it still worked with the focus on the centre post and then our eye being drawn around the image by the other objects - maybe I am just easily distracted hahahahaha
I like the shapes too, a glimpse of everyday life.
