Today is ANZAC Day - the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. On this day we remember all those who served and died in war and on operational service.
I attended a local dawn service - Charles Munnery OAM a 93 year old WW2 veteran addressed the service. What an amazing man - last year at the age of 92 he went to Gallipoli and traced his fathers footsteps from WW1.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
LEST WE FORGET
very nice of you to have attended the service, and one held at dawn. wish there was something like that here, but we our remembrance day is held every November 11 at 11 a.m. so we have an excuse not to do the dawn thing. we must instill in our youths the gratitude we owe those brave soldiers.
