When travelling on the ferry I love the wharves and the pylons. Most of the wharves on the Parramatta River have been upgraded or are in the process of being upgraded. They are cleaner and I assume safer and more commuter friendly but do not have the character the old wharves had with their oyster covered huge wooden pylons and rusty chains.
This is at Kissing Point Wharf - it has been there for a while now ( just found out it was constructed in 2002 ) so has a little more character.
@golftragic safe or stupid/I'll sue you proof? As a kid my sister and friends and I had all sorts of misadventures involving play equipment, trees, roller skates, rooftops and trampolines - we didn't blame anyone or try to sue anyone for the injuries - they were just accidents because we went outside and explored rather than sat inside and watch tv lol
@annied Yep, same here, and brought my kids up the same. When I got bitten by a dog while riding my bike to school, the first question my mother asked me was 'what did you do to the dog?'!!! Would that we could leave all that legal s--t out of what are clearly accidents and/or misadventures as you correctly put it. Self-responsibility is a wonderful thing.
@golftragic yes I was bitten on the stomach by a dog when I was young - parents said I shouldn't have stuck my hand through the fence - self responsibility needs to make a come-back lol
Just read the comments above, don't get me started. ha ha. People don't take responsibility for their own actions these days. A few years ago a chap dived into shallow water in Nelson Bay and ended up quadriplegic, he sued the council for half a million dollars because there was no sign saying the water was shallow.
I also like the ones with character. And no doubt would be arrested in today's parenting climate, as I regularly allowed my boys to play in the woods with no supervision with hatchets and hammers so they could build forts.
