I have a couple of weeks easier and then the rest of the month full on so I am going with the theme Things Aussie for this month - that way I can draw on images that I have when times get tough!
This week is Aussie fauna!
She wasn't as photogenic as the Koala but Tassie Devils are one of my favourite Aussie mammals.
They are the world's largest surviving carnivorous marsupial and cannot be mistaken for any other. Their spine-chilling screeches, black colour, and reputed bad-temper, led the early European settlers to call it The Devil. Although only the size of a small dog, it can sound and look incredibly fierce.
Tasmanian devils are wholly protected. The Devil Facial Tumour Disease, which is now having a devastating effect on the Tasmanian devil population was first noticed in the north-east of Tasmania in the mid-1990s but has become more prevalent in recent times in other areas of the State. http://www.tassiedevil.com.au/tasdevil.nsf http://www.devilark.org.au/
They're such 'orrible little creature, very hard to like them. Nevertheless it's pleasing to hear of some progress in breeding some disease-free Devils.
@golftragic hahaha I love them....they're so full of attitude 😆 @joysabin I always loved the one in Loony Toons @tosee I am 😆 you enjoyed it thank you
Wow! I cannot believe how everyone is calling this girl cute. While I do not find her ugly at all, cute is not a description I would give her either.
A great shot that really captures the essence of her.
