female superb lyrebird

This month my theme will be all creatures great and small....I will be taking new photos but also using some from earlier dates - I have some busy times coming up.

The superb lyrebird is an Australian songbird, one of two species from the family Menuridae. It is one of the world's largest songbirds, and is noted for its elaborate tail and excellent mimicry.

@chimfa @hermann @onewing this one lives in the walk through Platypus and Wollomi Pine exhibit at Taronga - she is elusive and have to be very quiet to see her - it is amazing how many people walk by without even noticing her.
I have seen two in the wild at Fitzroy Falls here in NSW
