My theme for October is the birds I have photographed while out and about.
Not a great image but it is the first Friarbird I have seen in the wild.
The noisy friarbird (Philemon corniculatus) is a passerine bird of the honeyeater family Meliphagidae native to southern New Guinea and eastern Australia.
oh fab - were they babbling on? they crack me right up with the way they make me think of monks repeating catechisms over and over that make no sense at all lol
@annied if I have a bunch of them in the grevilleas outside my office some days they can drive you batty as they compete with this gabbling and babbling. the sounds of our bush really are quite amazing when you think about it!
