the Sydney Scene

for the Artist Challenge ~ Berenice Abbott

construction and cranes
and greed
more spaces
to occupy
pay for
money
for what
where's the space
and the freedom
the trees
and the yard
to play
with the dog
and have green
all all around
A striking shot Annie and very true words; I agree wholeheartedly.

A poem like a skyscraper, tall and narrow!

Great capture for the challenge but it is indeed sad to see so much construction, the jungle is no longer green and alive but grey and lifeless!

Too many people, too much greed.

@annied Me too. I was born and bred in a part of Melbourne then occupied by normal white-collar working people. Property prices there are now at stratospheric heights and it's all yuppified and full of expensive cars/4WDs. Yuk!!

@golftragic Sydney prices are ridiculous and when a house is sold nowadays either two take it's place or townhouses or apartment blocks if a few together - no more home with a yard :(

I'm never really sure why they call it "progress" when I see shots like this! Great verse too.

@olivetreeann travelling along the river towards the city in Sydney is quite disturbing in my opinion
