Scotch bonnets by atchoo

Scotch bonnets

My husband usually keeps our lawns pretty short, but he's been very busy at work lately - which means that all kinds of interesting things are emerging :-D. Today I discovered these mushrooms, seems like snails have already been feasting on them since they look pretty ragged, but they are still pretty in my oppinion.

I did a little bit of googling and discovered, that they are called "Scotch bonnets" (in Latin "Marasmius oreades" and in Danish "Elledans-Bruskhat"). They are in fact edible, but I'm not going to cook them up for dinner tonight :-)... I much prefer looking at them (especially since someone already have been gnawing away at them).

Scotch bonnets are commonly found in lawns where they often form troops, archs or rings... I don't expect these one to last long enough for that to happen though, because as soon as husband discovers them, they are history... but I'm not going to tell on them, so hopefully the snails and I both can enjoy them a little bit longer :-)...

Gear used: Olympus OM-D E-M5 + Lensbaby Velvet 56 f1.6/56mm.
