Spiderweb

To be honest I'm not a big fan of spiders - not at all, but I can't help getting very impressed by their spiderweb building skills…This web has been up for a few days and have started to look rather tattered... but still beautiful, I think.

Due to the very hot weather lately my husband and I have spent many hours in the late evening and early night sitting outside in our yard (which also doubles as our cat enclosure, pic here: http://365project.org/atchoo/365/2017-07-31 ) just chatting and relaxing.
The only downfall is... spiders... For some reason the spiders also really like it here. Maybe it's the abundance of airy corners perfect for build big webs, that attracts them, I don't know, but as long as they keep to themselves, I'm okay with them being here.

As the day turns into night our eaves lights are turned on, and then it's easy to see how some of the spiderwebs reflects the light from the near by eaves light - and the spiders definitely have a preference for building rather large webs right next to the lights.
Since every light in and around our house is LED it can't be the warmt radiating from the bulbs, that attracts them (LED lights do not get warm like incandescent light bulbs or halogen bulbs), so it must be the fact that other insects are drawn to light and therefore more prone to getting caught in the spiderwebs... it's quite simple really... but also very fascinating...

Lovely shot but I agree with you about the spiders!
