This is what Australia Day looks like in my town. We host the largest amateur cricket carnival in the southern hemisphere. There is "some" serious cricket played but as you can see the guy closest has a beer by his side. So a lot of it is just for fun. I went to this field to see my son, couldn't find him, took a few shots and went home. After uploading I found that he is actually batting at the other end!! Hope all my fellow aussies had a great day and didn't suffer too much from the heat. We have rain forecast so it is keeping nice temps for the cricketers.
My parents live two days away from the local oval and every Australia Day there are a group of people who host a cricket match. They were set up early yesterday as the temperature was going to be 40. Not sure how long they lasted. They take it very seriously though and arrived the day before to mow the pitch.
