Mr Magpie at the " big bird " table

It is only recently I have had a Magpie visiting the garden -I have a love-hate relationship with this bird for its reputation of killing smaller garden birds especially small chicks !
Sam
I know what you mean Beryl - I also have a love hate relationship with magpies!

I didn't know that this bird was that aggressive! I know they are territorial but here they just bomb people!

Blue Jsys dive bomb cats and squirrels and people. I'm glad we don't have Magpies, one species of meanies around is enough. That lovely fence/trellis behind the feeder is gorgeous. Your garden is spectacular I'm sure! This bird is pretty, I've never seen a magpie, even though I've heard of them all my life.

Cheeky birds, and very greedy sadly.

Do magpies really kill other birds?

I had forgotten what magpies look like in the UK. They are totally different to ours out here in Oz.

Great collage and captures they have lovely colours in their plumage when the light catches them and they make a lot of noise if something upsets them but I like to see them and one day I mightb get a shot before they fly away.

Thanks, Beryl. Never too old to learn.

Great collage, he is a handsome chap, I too have mixed feelings about them too. We have a lot of them around our garden and I always worry for the smaller birds and their young.

I agree...but they look so smart! Nice photos, Beryl.

Big greedy bird for big bird table! A very attractive bird if not very good natured! I hope your op on Tuesday hasn't been compromised by the cyber attack on the computer system Beryl. Fingers crossed for you!

I always look for more than one - as the song / rhyme says, one for sorrow. Not one of my favourite birds, but it is a great collage.

@pyrrhula Thank you Ferry . I love to hear what the animals and birds at called in different languages -- We call the Magpie "pioden " in Welsh .

Very cool setup for the birds -- and an effective collage for telling their story.
