It is only recently I have had a Magpie visiting the garden -I have a love-hate relationship with this bird for its reputation of killing smaller garden birds especially small chicks !
Blue Jsys dive bomb cats and squirrels and people. I'm glad we don't have Magpies, one species of meanies around is enough. That lovely fence/trellis behind the feeder is gorgeous. Your garden is spectacular I'm sure! This bird is pretty, I've never seen a magpie, even though I've heard of them all my life.
@gijsje - their feeding habit is quite varied -- as stated in the British Garden Birds publication it states "feeding ,, quite varied in their original habitat ,-- insects, rodents , carrion , eggs and nestlings , grain , berries and fruit !
Great collage and captures they have lovely colours in their plumage when the light catches them and they make a lot of noise if something upsets them but I like to see them and one day I mightb get a shot before they fly away.
Great collage, he is a handsome chap, I too have mixed feelings about them too. We have a lot of them around our garden and I always worry for the smaller birds and their young.
Big greedy bird for big bird table! A very attractive bird if not very good natured! I hope your op on Tuesday hasn't been compromised by the cyber attack on the computer system Beryl. Fingers crossed for you!
Thanks, Beryl. Never too old to learn.
