The marigolds still keep giving - not only with their cheerful flowers but also their interesting seed heads , now ready to ripen and planted _ I usually let them self seed for next year's plants . Why interfere when they are quite capable to manage by themselves !!!
Absolutely, what a great idea! I have a friend who grew sunflowers form her birdseed! They are just flowering now and provide such a cheerful sight in her front garden.
I love all the greens in this shot, Beryl, and the perfect shapes. As others have mentioned, I have never seen (or noticed) marigold seed-heads before, so thank you for this photo. And, yes, your (non)planting plan sounds good.
