This close-to-life-size moose sculpture is in front of our local Sportsmen Warehouse store. I had been hoping to get a photo of an actual moose for Day 3 of the Local Wonders challenge: local animal. This will have to do! Guess all our real moose are in hiding due to hunting season! Normally we see them from time to time on this seven acres we live on...
A wonderful sculpture! I can appreciate some modern sculptures but prefer those that re-create the beauty found in nature, like this one. My husband and son both hunt, so I am familiar with Sportsman's Warehouse. Had duck gumbo for dinner tonight. No moose where we live!
@calm Thank you, Cathy! I agree with you! I prefer art that reflects more realistic images from my environment. There is such infinite beauty in God's creation to try to capture. Hmmm... Duck gumbo? Don't believe I've ever had that! My husband has never really hunted ducks, that I know of. Mostly big game animals, although he did hunt pheasant when we lived in Pennsylvania many years ago.
