Born Again

The Alberta Hotel was built in 1903. If you zoom in on the doorway you can see the date stone. In its early years it was considered the finest hotel in Edmonton. Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurier stayed here in in 1905 when Alberta became a province.
It had Edmontons first front-bell desk system, first passenger elevator and first running showers. When Canada Place was slated to be built in 1984, which you can see behind the hotel, The Alberta Hotel was carefully dismantled and the parts all safely stored away with hopes that it could someday be rebuilt.
Well that is happening. Due to the efforts of a local architect this hotel is being rebuilt on its original location. It is slated to open next year.
My wife and I have already decided that we are going to see if we can book a room for its grand opening
How wonderful that this great old building is being saved! Thank you so much for the fav.
