Railyards Rejuvinated by bkbinthecity

Railyards Rejuvinated

Edmonotn has a strong tie to the railway. This section of downtwon was once part of a large railyard. Where there once was tracks and trains there is now a beautiful park amongst all the new condos
wow that looks wonderful, lots of greenery

Nice a nice one for the sign challenge I started for september. So sad that railways seems to be something of the past in North-America! Here in Europe it's really the futere with more and more trains that go over 300 km/hr.

@maaikel Well they keep talking about coming up with a high speed train betwen Edmonton and Calgary which are the two largest cities in Alberta
August 27th, 2011
@shanne It really is. After the railyard shut down this was just a lot of empty space over grown with weeds

I love railway memorabilia - this is a fabulous archway to your park,
August 27th, 2011
I like how they made the archway look industrial like the railyard it used to be. What a great way to keep the space open and reuse it for something that benefits everyone. Edomonton is truly a smart city!

Great shot--love how the arch frames the scene. I agree with Ann in the previous comment--the arch is reminiscent of the industrial past, but now the city has a lovely park.
