Edmonton has so many houses with such a great history behind them. This is one of my favorite. This house was built by Alexander C. Rutherford the first premier of the Province of Alberta. It was built in 1911 one year after he resigned from office.
Built at a cost of $25,000 it had many modern day amneities. Electrical lighting, entral heating, flush toilets and hot running water in the kitchen
The house has a drawing room, dining room, library, fireplace and kitchen on the main floor. There are four rooms upstairs.
It came close to being torn down in the late 1960's after being used as a fraternity house for over 20 years. Thankfully wider heads prevailed and today it is a musem with a tea house. Several funtions ae held here through out the year. Melody and I have had the opportunity to take in some of these.
I took this shot before the winter arrives and yes I will take this same shot later on when all the snow is here.
@pwallis Maybe we could join you. We have not been to the tea house before. We have been to the house itself for functions. We really do need to get to the tea house sometime
