There are afew things I love about this photo. First of all it is a picture of the MacLean Block which was build in 1909 meaning it is a historical building which I just LOVE. These is somethng very special about these buildings that date back to the early turn of the century.
Secondly it is located on Jasper Avenue which going back to the late 1800's has and will continue to be an vital road in Edmonton.
Thirdly it is home to Audrey's Books which happen to be the oldest independent bookstore in Alberta being in business since 1975
So when you combine them they do become just a few of my favorite things. I also decided to go with a sepia look to it just for something different.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend
This is a vintage shot for the scavenger theme for January
@http365proj Yes it does have that. When it was built it was commecial space on the main floor office space on the second floor and apartments on the third floor which were used until 1977 and today are offices as well
Minus the dirt roads, this very much has that vintage city photo look to it (I was just looking at some of Vancouver from the 1920's yesterday). Great shot - and I love that it's got so much personal meaning for you as well:)
how lucky are you that there are no pesky cars passing by and getting into the shot? that is kind of hard especially that it's on jasper avenue which i would guess is a busy street (we have clients with offices on jasper). the sepia tone works as it highlights the age of the building quite nicely. i love those awnings! brian, this is one of your shots where you must go back and take a 'summer' shot. great shot, brian.
@summerfield Thanks. It took a few shots before I got this one without so many cars in the way. I will definitely go back and take a few shots later on to compare with this one
