Well today was a beautiful day. So we went walking across the High Level Bridge and as we were heading back I had the chance to get a shot of the Street Car going by. The High Level bridge when it was built was built to allow trains to cross over the top while vehicles would drive below. The trains stopped crossing many years ago however the Edmonton Radial Railway Society decided to start running the street cars again. So on the weekends from the May longweekend until thanksgiving you can ride the street car from Old Strathcona to the Legislative Building on the northside.
Wonderful capture. I like that you have captured three types of traffic on this bridge - streetcar, automobile and pedestrian (on the other side of the bridge). Glad they have partially revived this form of transportation.
What a shame these marvellous pieces of engineering were ever taken out of use. This is a fascinating shot, with a marvellous old car and the structure of the bridge clearly shown!
