A Real Gingerbread House by bkbinthecity

A Real Gingerbread House

So the other day we were out driving in a part of our city named Highlands. It was developed starting around 1910 -1914. Two developers were partners in building so many of the homes in this neighbourhood.
One of the men was Bidwell Holgate. This is his home which he built in 1913 at a cost of $49,000. The family lived here until 1920 when they moved into a much smaller and modest home a couple of blocks away.
When we were looking at this house we both thought that it looked like a gingerbread house. So with the festive season upon us I felt it would be nice to share
Wonderful! It's a perfect gingerbread house, and the snow covering is just perfect.

What a lovely house....back in those times $49000 would be a lot of money! Wonder if they fell on hard times and that is why they moved to smaller quarters.
