So I have gotten back into the word challenge for December. Today the word was wither ornament or nativity. so on my way to work this morning I got of the bus a few stops before I usually do and went for a stroll past City Hall.
They have had a nativity scene here for many years. When I was a child they actually had real people and animals at the nativity scene. I don't recall when they stopped that but for some time now this has been the nativity scene. I am thankful that in the day and age of political correctness that still have a nativity scene at our City Hall
I totally get that one! At the school I work at, the office staff always decks it out with manger scenes and everything. I so badly want to take a picture of it all every year, but I'm scared to death the wrong person will see it and complain :(
I'm amazed and so disappointed that it's so difficult to find a public nativity any more. I've been on the lookout for one in my city to no avail. Well done for your town still putting theirs up.
Wonderful!! I too miss the public Nativity scenes and think it's ridiculous to think that displaying such is promoting one religion over another. On the other hand, I am noticing more and more Nativities on the lawns of private homes as a result- so did the anti-Christianity promoters really accomplish their goal of erasing the memory of the real meaning of Christmas? And so I applaud the city of Edmonton!! And your picture too!
enjoy it and glad you were able to take a photo of this. there will come a time some groups of people would be 'offended' and this tradition would be discontinued. just like our Christmas tree at the city hall. it's no longer called Christmas tree, it's called a holiday tree now, although it still looks like a Christmas tree. excellent capture, brian.
