Not as hard as I thought

When I looked at todays words I was wondering what picture I could post. I had used the waterpark picture yesterday so there went Beach. It is not BBQ weather in Edmonton at the moment but then I remembered this picture I took. The city is trying to encourage more people to come downtown during the the winter months so they have put out these firepits for people to use.
So this will have to do for open fire although it really does not meet the true requirement it is the closest I will get in January in Edmonton
I have to give credit to your city fathers coming up with innovative ideas to get folks downtown.

What a good idea. And nice shot.
January 6th, 2013
What a fantastic idea for "warming the hands and body" and be able to do things in the city!
January 6th, 2013
Lovely
January 6th, 2013
That is cool that they have done that. I will have to check them out next time I am in Edmonton.
January 6th, 2013
Great way to warm up! I noticed Toronto is creating more winter activities for the same reason - to get people out in the winter. But your winter's are way colder and more snow than we ever get!
January 6th, 2013
What a wonderful idea for the theme! It looks like a nice way to warm up, too.
January 6th, 2013
Is it just for warming? You put your hands on the warm rails - I would think a table would be good for buying a coffee at a nearby cafe and coming over to look at the fire and warm up!
January 6th, 2013
I love this photo! It is a good idea to have warm outdoor spaces!
January 6th, 2013
Great idea.
January 7th, 2013
Great photo and description!
January 7th, 2013
Ooh, you found fire. Great shot for the word of the day. It would be nice to stand next to it on a cold day to help keep warm.
January 7th, 2013
Nice shot Brian.
January 7th, 2013
What a wonderful idea, a nice warm fire to warm you ,just as it is doing for Melody
January 7th, 2013
Sue
what an excellent idea! I wish Toronto would do that!
January 7th, 2013
Nice picture and a great idea by the city
January 7th, 2013
Looks warm and such a great idea!!
January 7th, 2013
Nice way to keep warm.

Kim
Clever depiction for this word. Also clever of the city to come up with this idea - does it work (to bring people downtown, that is)?
January 7th, 2013
i didn't even know that edmonton was doing that. such a great idea! fires are so lovely in the winter! great shot!
January 7th, 2013
Mel looks warm!
January 7th, 2013
Bet that throws off nice heat in the cold. Nice pic too!
January 7th, 2013

January 7th, 2013
Very cool shot! Awesome capture!

What a cool idea, and a great shot!
January 7th, 2013
cool shot...do you bring your own wood?
January 7th, 2013
That's very nice. I like that. I live in a city that does a lot for the citizens. It makes the world a bit more pleasant.
January 7th, 2013
This is a great idea and reminds me of when I lived in Beijing, there would be fires in oil drums and people roasting chestnuts or sweet potatoes over the fires.
January 8th, 2013
No THAT looks more like winter!
January 8th, 2013
Fun with city planning! Love it.
January 8th, 2013
Nice solution to your 'problem', though! ;-) And you could get yout hands warm at the same time - not to scoff at. ;-)
January 8th, 2013
Oooh that looks toasty!
January 8th, 2013
I say it qualifies for a BBQ because you could most definitely roast a marshmallow on that and make a s'more!
January 8th, 2013
I'm with Caryn @cmc1200, that looks cold! I can see the snow so no matter how much a fire might help, I bet it is still cold!!! We southerners don't do winter well! LOL ;-)
January 8th, 2013
@kbalychev Thanks Kimberly
January 8th, 2013
@glendq There was the choice between beach bbq or open fire. You can find the list of the theme section of the discussion page

What's it like in August! LOL We'll be in the low 100s then. I think Edmonton might be nice then! I remember some street fair shots of yours. I bet that would be fun. I'd have to get my kids a passport though with the new travel requirement.
January 8th, 2013
@russianblue True but when you dress for it then it is not that bad
