When I looked at todays words I was wondering what picture I could post. I had used the waterpark picture yesterday so there went Beach. It is not BBQ weather in Edmonton at the moment but then I remembered this picture I took. The city is trying to encourage more people to come downtown during the the winter months so they have put out these firepits for people to use.
So this will have to do for open fire although it really does not meet the true requirement it is the closest I will get in January in Edmonton
Great way to warm up! I noticed Toronto is creating more winter activities for the same reason - to get people out in the winter. But your winter's are way colder and more snow than we ever get!
Is it just for warming? You put your hands on the warm rails - I would think a table would be good for buying a coffee at a nearby cafe and coming over to look at the fire and warm up!
This is a great idea and reminds me of when I lived in Beijing, there would be fires in oil drums and people roasting chestnuts or sweet potatoes over the fires.
I'm with Caryn @cmc1200, that looks cold! I can see the snow so no matter how much a fire might help, I bet it is still cold!!! We southerners don't do winter well! LOL ;-)
What's it like in August! LOL We'll be in the low 100s then. I think Edmonton might be nice then! I remember some street fair shots of yours. I bet that would be fun. I'd have to get my kids a passport though with the new travel requirement.
I just had to come back here to see Melody warming her hands by the fire! What a sweet photo, and what a good idea to encourage people to come downtown in cold weather.
@laurentye It is a very nice way to help enjoy the outdoors. You should come down to Churchill Square on a Saturday sometime. Some nice outdoor activities and also the City Market inside City Hall
what is the word for the day?
I tend to go a good few times a year as I have family there. I'm only around 5 hours away. ;)
