So I took my inspiration for today's shot from John Lynn @jwlynn 64. On Feb 14 he posted a picture of a power plant. When I saw it it made me think of our refinery row here in Edmonton. Alberta's top natural resource is our oil and gas. Most of our revenue dollars come as a direct result of this. Refinery Row sits on the highway between Edmonton and Sherwood Park. I have wanted to take a picture of it for awhile so when we went for a drive on Sunday we passed by it and I pulled over on the shoulder and got this picture. After I took it I noticed the truck just pulling into the scene and I thought about taking it over again but then I decided that it fits right in with the picture as a whole that I went with this one. Some day I will go back and take a shot at night as it looks quite impressive in the dark with all of its light
Thanks John for the inspiration for this shot
I like this photograph very much indeed - wonderful lines and the road leads is into the shot. the small yellow and blue objects really make the photo for me. A Fav
Outstanding, Brian! You need to tag this for this wks theme -- theme-structures. Very well caught and fits perfectly with the gray skies. I like the truck---fits right in with the whole scene. Will look fwd to seeing this at night, too!
Refineries and power plants amaze me. Most amazing to me is that someone knows what is going on there - in detail. I would love to see a picture of this at night, but be careful!
Nice! Glad to hear I'm not the only one with aspirations to photograph a power plant at night. I think about it a lot, but I'm not sure how I'll pull it off!
Very nice shot! Gas and oil are a big industry in Louisiana, too, and I've taken a couple of photos of plants and refineries. They aren't as pretty as natural scenery, but they're part of the landscape, too.
