It was on this day in 1948 that Edmonton started using parking meters downtown. A few days later Edmonton became the first Canadian city to report a parking meter stolen. I am not sure what the rates were then. Today they are $3.50 per hour Mon-Fri. On Saturday they are $1.00 per hour. I do know that a parking ticket was $1.00 compared to $35 today, I am talking from experience.
So I figured that it would be worth a drive downtown to take this picture. If you look closely Melody is sitting there waving and wishing all of you a wonderful weekend.
Nice to know, Hi Melody. parking here is not so different. to day we went to a place called Aberdare in the South Wales Valley's. it is from free all day for the disable, to £1 for 3 hours.
and a happy weekend back to you and Melody - Man that's expensive parking! I grizzle when I have to pay $2 and hour. Although, having said that, parking at the Melbourne airport has just gone up to $14 for 30 - 60 minutes and $24 for 1 - 2 hours.
What a wonderful photo of your wife in your car, Brian. Wow, it is so expensive to park during the week there and expensive to get a parking ticket. Not sure what it costs here as we rarely have to park at a meter and if we do I have a handicap placard as I have Vertigo issues and was given a permanent placard and get to park for free if at a meter. I do not think I have ever heard of one being stolen here. Hope you and Melody are having a wonderful weekend.
Lovely capture of Melody. Greetings and same wishes in return
