Back to End of Steel Park. Since this is a Canadian Pacific line there is a caboose sitting in the tracks here.
It has been quite a few years since a caboose has been seen on the end of a train. Usually you only see them at a place like this or a train museum.
We are fortunate to have this one here. A few years back an arsonist set this one on fire. It was caught quickly and put out with only minimal damage and it was able to be totally repaired.
Tomorrow I will end this little series with a shot of the building you see in the background and a story to go with it
this is the best part of your story, i think. for some reasons, i love a nice looking caboose. i first learned the word and its meaning when i was four years old. i always loved trains and the sound of it in the distance. i think trains are romantic! very nice shot, brian. how's melody?
Nice shot of the old and iconic caboose. It has been a long time, hasn't it? I hate to see some things go by the wayside, and the caboose is one of them. They call it progress! I'm not sure about that.
It's been so long since I've seen a caboose. Brings back memories. As a child, from my daddy's car when waiting for the train to pass, I used to wave at the man who always stood at the back of the caboose. Great shot and I love the color! Glad they were able to save it after the arson.
It was always exciting to see the caboose at the end of the train when you were little. Crazy that they tried to burn it, but glad that it was caught before it was too late.
