Rail Days.....Business is Booming

I trust you have enjoyed this little look into the railroad history of Edmonton
Today I am showing you the Ritchie Mill.
Built in 1892 by Robert Ritchie an early pioneer and business man in Edmonton. He built this flour mill in conjunction with the arrival of the railroad here.
Business was so good that he expanded it twice. First in 1895 and then in 1902.
It functioned as a flour mill until 1948. It is the oldest surviving flour mill in Alberta
Since closing it has been home to a couple of restaurants, a real estate and business offices
Have a great weekend everyone
Awesome shot

Do you know how he powered the flour mill? Was there a river and a water wheel? Its all so interesting and the buildings are so strong when they were built!
