School Days. 1881

So in a couple of weeks the school year will come to an end. So I decided this week to highlight some of Edmonton's older schools.
Starting with the first schoolhouse located outside of Fort Edmonton Trading Post.
This is the 1881 Edmonton Settlement Schoolhouse. Today it is part of the Edmonton Public School Board Museum and Archives.
I will try to back when it is open and try to take pictures
Neat that this old school building is so well preserved. I like that you included the water pump in your collage.

I really enjoy these old school or class photos. The people have long since passed on, but I wonder how the stories of their lives unfolded…

A lovely collage of this interesting old school! You made me think about the schools I went to (not as old as this one I add) and the only part of a school that I went to that survives is the hall of the school I went to from age 11 to 18, the rest of it having been replaced with new buildings a few years ago. The hall survived because it was a more recent building than the rest, and was well equiped for use as a theatre.
