... not the actual rules, but the "rules" of photography. Our winner from last week, Todd, wants you to break the rules and try something new.
The weekly theme is a great Idea and an excellent opportunity to put thought towards a subject that may be rather foreign.
Following that idea I would like to propose 'Breaking the Rules'.
To quote Bill Brandt "Photography is not a sport therefore there are no rules".
Breaking the rules of composition:
- Rule of thirds - centered objects
- Careful framing - careless framing.
- Looking room - Looking room behind subject.
- Positive and negative space - excessive
- Even Horizons/lines - uneven/tilted horizons
- Image sharpnes - Increased ISO
- Sharp Focus - No focus point
- Arms/limbs coming into frame
- Cutting eyes.
How to enter
To make it a little easier for me when picking the final 5, I'll need all entrants to specifically state which rule they are breaking.
If you wish to enter the theme this week, please tag your photo (on the edit/organise screen) with the tag theme-breakrules.
Entry Guidelines
Entry to this theme starts on Monday 23rd June and will accept entries until Sunday night (23:59 GMT 30th June). 5 finalists will be chosen next week and we'll start voting on Wednesday. Entries must have been taken and uploaded within the time frame only! Entries outside of the date range will not be accepted in to the final 5.

Pretty serious character this Todd.
(... and as I don't even know how to post the picture here, what hope is there for me? Just a born loser!)

I mean maybe they assume it is so obvious it doesn't need to be mentioned but for some of us, probably less expert than them, it isn't all that obvious and the host specifically asked them to do it, in any case. Okay, rant over and all, as my kids would say, over a first world problem.
Time to go pour a glass of wine and chill out.
