A little reminder of a special Winter Wonderland day and time spent with a good friend and her gorgeous Labrador Bradley.
For me it kind of sums up what this 365 was all about. When I started I had no idea whatsoever where this project would lead me. I know it's been said many a time. But I did start to look at everything around me differently and started to notice the little mundane things and the beauty within them. I ventured down new roads along my route to and from work and ended up in dodgy industrial harbours or some such places in the darkness - and had a whale of a time (pardon the pun...)! I learnt that I LOVE being out with my camera and the tripod for the blue hour and wish I would do it more often. Doing something a little creative (almost) every day is something I had missed for some time and got to enjoy again over the past 15 months.
Yes, 15 months...but I guess it was always going to be my project and my rules and life intervened in unforeseen ways and pulled me away from this path a few times.
Bradley is looking ahead excitedly and so am I! Loads more out there to be discovered and to be learned. So I will continue into year 2 but without the promise of posting religiously every day...
None of this would have been half as enjoyable or indeed possible without all of you truly magnificent 365ers who took the time to view, to comment and to fav and who kept coming back every time when I hadn't been around on here for a while! So thank you to every single one of you and you all know who you are. I wouldn't want to miss anyone off the list. Just one person I shall mention by name - @filsie65 who was my first non-friend follower and who has cheered me on all the way! Thank you Phil!!
I never managed to convince one of them to set up an account on 365 but a huge thank you goes to all my family and my friends who have cheered me on and who kept asking whenever they didn't see any updates on 365!!
Huge thanks to Ross for coming up with this idea in the first place and for running such an amazing site!!
@bmnorthernlight oh that's better! many of us don't do a daily post after the 1st year, we have less pressure! (I think I use more fillers than my 1st year and I don't mind!)
@parisouailleurs Yeah, I like the idea of using some fillers! But I definitely don't want to hang up my camera and this will definitely keep me going with learning new stuff!
Such a lovely shot - but where did you find that blue sky;0)
Congratulations on completion, hope we get to have that coffee (and photo op) sometime; maybe a photo op of year 2? :0)
Been a pleasure to follow your fabulous shot
@claireuk thanks so much Claire! T'was 6 days ago, I'm still behind with posting (but only 6 days now not 2 months!!). Yes, we'll definitely have to do that coffee and do a photo op!
Bravo B!! What a wonderful shot - a perfect ending and new beginning! I hadn't clocked that you were anywhere near your 365th this was such a surprise!! I'm chuffed, touched and so glad to think my 'cheering you on' helped, it was so easy with such super shots! Looking forward to year 2 and .. you never know, next time I'm passing the angel of the north....! :)
PS Fav!
@filsie65 Thank you Phil :-) It's just been lovely to get to know you like this and have someone who's seen the whole journey through with me! I'm only sorry that I have missed patches of yours when I wasn't around on here!! And you should definitely let me know if you're passing this way - the least is we could meet for a photo op at the Angel :-)
@juliehill thanks Julie! Once I got used to the idea that I will have some gaps in the project it was easier to come back. And it's just too addictive ;-)
WEll done for completing the year - it does feel like a real achievement and I know what you mean about starting to look at things around you differently. Often I drive to work and just want to stop and get out and take a photo - which I can't as it's a very fast A road! I have really enjoyed your photos and you commenting on mine. One strange thing though - until I read your commentary above I always assumed bmnorthernlight was male - no idea why!!!
@lauralatham lol Laura, that's so funny! You must've missed the odd selfie ;-) I am getting over some of my privacy issues so thought it was about time to share at least my first name.
Thanks so much for your comments. I find it sometimes so frustrating when I can't stop for something that would be an amazing shot. My route to work is a bit similar...I've sometimes considered getting myself a bumper sticker that says "I will break for the perfect photo opportunity"...
well, congratulations on your 365, barbara. (yay! i know your name now, it's great!) and you know what, you can't leave, once you get in here, you can't go out anymore! :-) oh yes, you can, but what to do with that camera and those photos? great shot to finish the first year of your project, and with the road leading to somewhere, quite apropos.
