I was rather pleased to find out the reserved book I picked up from the library had come all the way from Hounslow Libraries - where I worked in the 90s. Popped into the library while visiting the farmers' market to pick up extra greens.
Home to have a nice bath and talk to my sister - will probably move my birthday stay to later in the summer to allow more time to find somewhere nice.
3 good things
1. Still lots of produce available at the market and in the local community shops - none of it turnips.
2. Big tray bake of last week's veg for supper - parsnips, sweet potato, squash with halloumi peppers.
3. Found Robin Ellis's Mediterranean cookbook in the library - time to stop eating so much crap.
@yaorenliu when I started as a librarian they had just moved to computerised even so long ago (1984), but the children's library still used the old pocket system. Now there are no librarians, just machines to check out your books. I'm glad I'm not a librarian anymore.
Saw your comment to Yao. Computerisation has its merits but it does make for an anonymous experience. And I suspect there are people who sneak books out more easily too!
@pusspup@sangwann so actually because of the introduction of self-checkout you can't tell anymore because librarians don't stamp the due dates in the book.
