At the Fête de l'Accordéon Diatonique. Part of a bill of Breton artists for this evening's festnoz.
Slept well enough but awoke with a headache which I couldn't of course shake all day. Too much alcohol and not enough water and of course pre-break stress. Gave Dave his birthday card and presents (trips to The Book of Mormon and Singing with Nightingales). Walked to Café des Anges for breakfast - good choice of traditional and more unusual choices as well as the formule that Dave and I went for.
Checked out, leaving our luggage in the hotel lockers and then tried to make our way to Musée d'Orsay by bus but ended up having to change and wait for far too long at a cold windswept bus stop. Passed the sad sight of Notre-Dame on the way. The Musée was as I remembered it, but incredibly busy - queues everywhere. The Manet Degas exhibition was enormous and crowded and we didn't think we'd get through it in any reasonable time, but the crowds settled down and it was very interesting - lots of work by these two prominent artists.
C and S had discovered Les Deux Musées bistro opposite which turned out to be an excellent late lunch spot, the staff squeezing us all into their busy room - a very welcome plate of nutritiousness in the form of a salade niçoise and a tarte tatin after. Dave's café gourmand was a super choice, being a mini selection of several desserts. I kept off the wine having had my fill yesterday and headache was still lingering.
Couple of soggy convoluted treks after. Back to the hotel after to collect luggage - buses still playing up so we walked through a damp Tuileries (beautiful judas trees in bloom and cheeky crows) to get the metro. And the long trip out to the outskirts of Paris - initially with an RER problem that then seemed to dissipate.
Hotel a 15 min walk away - room large and comfy and with tea and coffee making facilities 😊 but a touch musty. Rest before going out to the festnoz (Breton dance evening) 3 mins away. Missed the first hip-hop mashup band but the rest were all very good, hall was huge (terrible floor though) and nice vibe. The egg and cheese crêpes were very welcome and we scoffed those and left before the end, wanting to save our energy.
