An early birthday picnic with sisters, their partners, Sharon, F and S with champagne and cava.
Was lovely to see the sun out finally when we awoke this morning and on opening the back door, found it to be positively hot. So Dave and I, E, T and B, and mum breakfasted outside on scrambled eggs and mushrooms. S and N had gone out for a walk and to check out the William Morris Gallery and Saturday market. They brought back amazing charcoal bread and cheeses to contribute to the picnic.
We left mum at home sitting in the garden with instructions on how to put the telly on and set off. Roads looked appalling when I checked the satnav - a bit of sunshine and everyone seemed to be on the roads. But in the end, it wasn't that bad.
We wandered round the faery glade before settling down in a nice picnic spot where Sharon, F and S eventually joined us - the latter having driven up from Kew. Lots of picnic food: dips, bread, olives, cheeses and a couple of bottles of bubbly.
Sharon, F and S disappeared after and we lay around on the grass until it started to cool and we phoned Sharon to find out where they were - so she could let us out of the gate. Dave gave her a lift home.
Home to have tea and cake, play some accordion and eat more chocolate and cheese.
3 good things
1. Never mind spring, summer finally arrived - beautifully hot with more or less constant sunshine.
2. Bluebells and ramsons in a patch of woodland.
3.Veuve Cliquot - my favourite champagne.
