Celebrating mum's birthday with prosecco in her favourite restaurant.
A day that started off with a lot of less-good things but improved. Was browsing my phone while still in bed this morning and got a WhatsApp from the tenants saying they couldn't get in or out of the flat as the front door handle was broken. Luckily I still had the number of the locksmith I've used before and he was able to go over within a couple of hours.
Spoke to my sister S who told us that they've got no heating or hot water and their plumber putting in their new range and connecting it up to the heating and water doesn't seem to be as competent as one would like. And then when I phoned mum she'd had a bad night and a tummy upset - we agreed to go round later anyway to give her her presents and see how she felt about eating out.
I got out to Zumba - another bright sunny but very cold morning - and came back to find that B and sister T had accidentally left a bag filled with some of T's birthday presents as well as one they planned to give to mum by the car when they'd arrived in the dark yesterday. Of course an opportunistic passer-by had made off with most of it.
The day improved after that. Mum felt a lot better so we went over and gave her her birthday presents (87 today) and flowers and drove on to the restaurant for good Turkish food - chicken shish for mum and seafood for us.
Home after dropping mum back to finish watching No Time to Die.
Thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my arriving tube train - always looks quite good when they speed out of the tunnel into the station.
Congratulations to your Mum and I am so glad the day improved. It sounds like you had more than enough bad things going on for several weeks, let alone one morning.
Too bad about the presents, lock and that plumber!
