Croxton is another nearby village which was mentioned in the Domesday book. We took a walk there this afternoon hoping for some pretty skies but sadly there were none. St James church is mostly from the 13th century but has mostly been restored over the centuries. The sheep were fascinated to see us and one escaped through a damaged bit of fence onto the pathway. We must have scared it senseless just by being there as it then jumped over the wall into the church grounds. We couldn't persuade it to leave via the open gate, and found that it could run much faster than Peter could! Quite funny really, trying to head off this huge animal towards the obvious exit, but failing miserably. In the end we just had to shut the gate and leave it as we found it. The whole estate seemed to be full of dead trees which made for some interesting photos.
Sheep and gnarly trees! Excellent. Great story. Its quite hard to herd sheep I guess - they have competitions about it! Wonder if one man and his dog is still on actually?
Lovely composition Judith. I have always thought that field of sheep is really nice as I used to pass it every day when I worked at Papworth. Nice to see the church in the background too
