SEITZ SWISS MADE ANTIQUE WATCHMAKER'S WRIST and POCKET WATCH JEWELING STAKING TOOL

The internet is a wonderful thing.
I have no idea what this was so I poked in "Seitz watchmaking tool" and I hit the Jackpot. Now I know what this is and that some folks are trying to sell them on eBay for about $160. I have no clue what you do with a staking tool - but I have one in case I need it. This also means that I am going to have to figure out how to take photos of indoor things. I sort of cheated here and took it to a window to grab the natural light. So, lighting is on my list of things to learn this winter.......
So, are you putting this on e bay?!! Amazing looking machine, no idea at all what it does.............

@fannyb Not a chance. I can't seem to part with things that belonged to my parents.

You are so right. In the past we would have had to make a trip to the nearest library to research things. All to often we wouldn't and how many things did we never bother to find out what they were? Now all we have to do is type some words into our favorite search engine in the comfort of our home and know within minutes what were are looking for.

I like it Cathy. It was your dads, yes? The window is often the best source of light I find.

Was this something your dad used? Very cool, Cathy. And, I agree, what would we do without the internet? (Hard to imagine how we survived years ago with just an encyclopedia, eh ; )

Cathy its a wonderful piece of history and even more so because of it's personal story, I wouldn't be parting with it either! I love the colours the silver and pink it looks fabulous. I had a little giggle about moving the object to the window.... I bought a speedlite 580ex ii 2 years ago and have never used it because it appears to be too technical for me. Great shot :)

I really am having fun researching all of the old tools. It is interesting to see what they sell for - but I would have to be pretty hard off to part with a one of them. I have a feeling more will appear as our days get nastier.

What a wonderful antiquity xx

The internet can be a great research tool- but this tool is more special because it belonged to your father! I'm sure you're doing this, but don't forget to keep track of and write down what they were used for- so that his grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren will understand a piece of who they are! Nice shot! And natural lighting is great!
