We went to Indy today. This kid loves to cross his eyes. I have to admit it is pretty hysterical. This is the one and only shot I took today. We took him to see Oz the Great and Powerful in Imax 3D. It was astounding. This was only my second 3D movie and Garrett and I were trying to catch the little things that looked like they were floating in our laps. By the time we got back to his house we spent a little time with Lincoln Logs and then went to an early dinner so we could get back home.
I know that many folks are way over two hours distance from their families. But I really hate this. I miss my son, my grandson and my DIL. I took it for granted when they were across town - going for dinner, sitting on the back deck on a summer evening, holidays and birthdays - the special times and every day life.
This child, the one who is learning to read and cheats at card games, loves to tell jokes that make no sense and gives his balloon away to a little girl that he never saw before, this child is the only one that carries a piece of me into the future. Bless his silly, little soul.
Awe, such an adorable portrait of your grandson! My dad moved from Indy to a suburb of Detroit and lived there for eighteen years. While I still spent plenty of time with him, it was nothing like the casual get-togethers like you describe above. When his health started failing, the four-and-a-half hour distance seemed like half a world away. I’ve often wanted to live in a more exciting place, but could never tear myself away from what matters most to me - my family.
What a funny face! He and my granddaughter Leigh would be in hysterics together. Great shot. It may have been the only shot for the day, but it's the perfect shot for the day!
