Yesterday afternoon was quite interesting and inspiring. I went to a workshop of macro photography. And now I know that I don't really know a lot. (as it hepens when you start learning) But I know a lot more then a day before.
I picked one of many photos I took there, for several reasons. One is of course strawbery and motive in general. The other is the fact that this one does not have many imperfections (at least visible). If I have learnt something it is that you see every bit of a dust, scratch, and even unwanted litle microanimals (there where micro tiny little snails on some strawberie leaves because nobody thought of washing them. I would be happier if I never knew that). So I concluded that pharmaceutical laboratory conditions are required if you wanna do it right. Or at least I have to be aware of the posibilities of what I might discover after downloading a photo on a computer, and be ready for heavy PS) I also have a huge list of things I would have to or want to buy to be able and have real fun with macro, since I don't really have anything yet but basic lense 18-55, that alows me to come on 25cm from a target. I might start shopping during the next week. Since I am very low on a budget I will start with rings. After all I had a lot of fun with different motives and setups, playing with different lighting, and equipment. Hopefully i will be able to get to another workshop in the fall or so, but first I have to nail the macro in my own kitchen and backyard. I guess I might be ready to join macro challenge here on 365...
@berndtheo, yes and no. you have to be able to get very close. I have basic lens 18-55mm that can come as near as 25cm, which is not really enough. So I tried macro rings that you put between lens and camera to get closer- this is a cheap way to avoid buying expensive lens. (google it). This is short description- I am not really an expert after one workshop, but I think those rings are quite enough for me at the moment.
Great macro shot, sounds like a great workshop to have gone on, and lots learned! Happy shopping, I had a very low budget too & bought a macro conversion lense (10x magnification) which had been great.
