Such a beginner (attempt #2)

Haven't really moved forward image wise, but I did learn few things.
I focused on playing with light sources I have available, blocking natural light from the outside. I used central room light, table lamp and little flexible IKEA LED spot lamp with a clamp. I had another spot light which turned to be useless in this setup. The best one of all is IKEA lamp. It is pretty strong, and you can put it anywhere you like. The problem is I decided to play with macro so I cant maneuver much. I got strange shadows- I guess I need a second light or that ring flash. I didn't play with WB today- left it on auto.
I think I will simplify things tomorrow focusing only on one shell, and trying different bckgs, and maybe reflection board. And I certainly have to consider going to IKEA soon to get one more lamp so I can play better.
Very interesting image! Good job experimenting!

Have you tried filtering your light source through some netting or something similar? It will soften your light a little. Bouncing the light off some white card back at your subject will help lesson any shadows too. It's just a thought but I'm really no expert. I'm finding macro photography and indoor lighting a challenge too. Think you ate experimenting well though. I like your presentation and focusing. Can't wait to see tomorrow's effort 👍👍

@paul10, Thanks, Paul, for suggestions, I am thinking about making some sort of photo box, but I have to force myself to go slow, and I work with what I have which is not much, so the ? Is do I go shopping first or setting a lightbox, or do I loose patience?

I think you are learning a lot. I don't do well with the indoor lighting much of the time. It's too bright, or it's too yellow. Good for you. I like how your journaling your steps on here. Helps me, too. (I think I have the same IKEA light clamped to a table next to my desk.)

@randystreat, Thank you Kathy for your kind comments and great support for my efforts. It makes it easier to stay on track of my learning jurney. I have to take the most of the january's not eventful life and low temps in the outside to try and do something that usually doesn't work for me. I am not sure how long will that last...

Indoor lighting is tough, and then complicating it with a macro not on a tripod is even harder.
