Here's another popular installation at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This one is called "Levitated Mass" by Michael Heizer. It's a 340-ton rock from the middle of a California desert that the artist wanted as part of his art.
Initially, CJ and I were scratching our heads over a giant rock as art. Furthermore, the artist doesn't comment on his work's meaning or significance. However, many people are enthralled by it and others love to take creative photos of it. So I see it, in my opinion, as our ability to see art in just about anything even if that means we have to get a bit creative in our thinking or perspective (whether it's art to another person or not).
Besides that, how often do we get to walk under a giant boulder? That in of itself is awesome! π§ββοΈπ
Really like how this works with the symmetry of the wall and the non-symmetry of the tree lines....hey, sometimes I look at contemporary art and think we've hit rock-bottom, but that's just me.
@granagringa - Hahaha once again your puns bring a smile to my face. I knew there was something about those palm trees I liked so much. You're right how it creates symmetry and non-symmetry all at the same time. Thanks!!!
@kjarn - Aww that's really sweet! That's why I love spots like this, helps to creates fun memories and creative photographic moments. I know you had lots of fun!
